I'm seeing development of RTS games picking up quite a bit, but all the games that have been released so far pale in comparison to supcom. Loose unit control, bad balance, small scale, limited resources.. always seem to be focused on singleplayer and storytelling. RTSes are natural eSport games. It's as if they're a cash grab, not intended to age well. If at all.

And that's on the smallest map with two players and a unit cap of 250 (the lowest). SUPREME COMMANDER 3 has been announced 2 hours ago on reddit. Seems like Chris Taylor and Square Enix sold the license to Blizzard Entertainement 3 months ago. Supcom has so many amazing gameplay mechanics, why hasn't anybody taken it and updated it yet? I'd imagine it being incredibly popular. The game is still solid to this day, even a simple 'remaster' might give the genre a massive surge in population.
